I thought I'd post here about a phone call I've had this afternoon.

An Indian gentleman called me to say that I was a specially chosen customer for paying my bills on time and I was to receive a special box to turn all my appliances into energy saving ones for the rest of my lifetime!

I knew it was a scam but kept him on the phone for a few minutes just for the hell of it. I got bored eventually and told him where he could stick his box, but then did some googling to find out more.

These boxes last year were being sold for £99 to unsuspecting victims, he hadn't got as far as asking for bank details or requesting a "handling fee" but no doubt it was heading that way.

The boxes could be a fire risk from what I've read and it was recently in the news that people who did fall for it last year have been hit with a further scam offering compensation for getting these boxes!

Police and trading standards have been emailed, maybe someone from the gazette will actually visit here and read this and pick up on it but I doubt it from the way it's goes in here.

I know the fella got my name from the phonebook so it's likely others in the area are getting these calls.

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised that your caller hasn't advertised on here. Every other spammer in the world seems to.

They probably have but that day they were selling their webservices!

I couldn't believe it when they phoned again this evening, different bloke but same script. This one was unfortunate though, he got it both barrels and I suggested he dismantle one of his 'magic boxes' and sticks the pieces one by one where the sun doesn't shine.

I think that there is a lot of negativity surrounding this issue, in regards to the magicmeter200000 being a con or some sort of scam. I can attest to the fact that it really REALLY does work.

After purchasing one of these boxes from a courteous chap on the telephone, I was delighted when the package turned up, with foolproof instructions as to how to install and set up. I promptly disconnected my electric meter, my electric cooker, and set about the easy job of rewiring my kitchen and living room in order to get all of my electricity flowing through the magicbox. After 8 months in casualty I now have a house where the water flows freely through my deep fat fryer, my side door doubles as an electric fence and the kitchen fan smokes more than Dot Cotton on a bad day.

My electricity bill has substantially reduced, thanks to the fuse blowing abilities of the magicmeter200000. Bravo chaps! Smile

Good work chezt excellent find. These muppets will try anything. I can really see this scam as one that would work as well, especially some of the more vulnerable of claimants.
